Marvel at some of nature's most interesting sights at Devil’s Sinkhole State Natural Area. The area, considered a national natural landmark, is best known as the home of one of the largest bat colonies in Texas.
During the warmer months, millions of Mexican free-tailed bats make their home in the 140-foot-deep sinkhole.
In the evening, visitors can witness millions of bats emerge from the cavern to start their daily hunt for food. The swirling colony of bats roams the sky for hours, consuming up to 30 tons of beetles and moths every night.
In addition to bat tours, the 1,860-acre natural area also offers birding tours and guided nature walks. All activities in the area are guided by tours and require reservations.
