Every year from March to November, Round Rock witnesses a daily natural wonder. Visitors and locals alike marvel at nearly half a million bats as they swarm the air feeding on thousands of pounds of insects every evening. These Mexico Free-Tailed Bats take flight at dusk, traveling over 60 miles per hour as they form fascinating patterns in the air. Those interested in watching this fast-growing attraction are invited to gather under the Interstate 35 overpass along McNeil Road shortly after 7:00 p.m. and are welcome to bring blankets, covers, head covering, and other items to make themselves more comfortable. Free parking is also available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Napa Auto store parking lot.
