Located a few steps from the Alamo, the San Antonio Fire Museum celebrates the 160-year-old story of the city’s fire department and how it has grown from buckets to modern equipment.
Owned and operated by the San Antonio Fire Museum Society, the San Antonio Fire Museum is set within the old Central Fire Headquarters, Fire Station No.1, and SAFD Shops a short way from the Riverwalk. The museum features a variety of fascinating exhibits and displays that highlight the history of the fire department, including an EMS display, fire trucks, antique fire apparatus and artifacts dating back to the mid-1800s, documents and photos, and a small theater showing short videos of the history of the Fire Service. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday.
