The town of Cosby is one of several gateways to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, where visitors can enjoy an exceptional outdoor recreational area. Believed to be among the oldest mountains on the planet, the Smokey Mountains boast a remarkably rich biodiversity. The National Park covers over half a million acres of sensationally beautiful landscape which encompasses old-growth forest, streams and waterfalls, all of which are home to an abundance of wildlife including elk and black bear. Park activities include scenic drives, mountain biking, birding, fishing hiking and camping. Children can join organized ranger-led activities, go horse-back riding or learn how to fish.
