The Brando is an upscale resort in French Polynesia located on the atoll of Tetiaroa, which also serves as a regulated air strip and research facility. The hotel, which was opened to the public in July of 2014, is a project of the estate of actor and activist Marlon Brando, overseen by eight of his children. The eco-friendly resort is a great choice for couples watching their carbon footprint, constructed from sustainable materials and uses renewable energy sources such as solar panelling, coconut oil biofuel, and seawater air conditioning. Leisure choices at the resort include the Varua Te Ora Polynesian Spa, which offers a range of luxury treatments, and two destination stores, including a pearl shop specializing in Tahitian pearls and a boutique gift shop offering local artisan items. Dining options include the Polynesian and French-influenced Beachcomber Café and the Japanese teppanyaki-style Nami restaurant.
