The Monroe County Historical Association was established by Dr. Mary Erdman, in addition to other leading Monroe County citizens, back in 1921. Best Things to Do in The historical society manages a research library and museum, which are housed inside of the historic 1795 Stroud Mansion. The mansion was built by Jacob Stroud, whose family continued to live there for many years. The Stroud Mansion, and its Monroe County Historical Association Museum is open to the public by guided tour only.
