Sawmill Creek Resort was originally opened in 1974 by Greg Hill, drawing inspiration from the culture of local indigenous tribes and the aesthetic of the turn-of-the-century Arts and Crafts movement. The resort is located adjacent to Sheldon Marsh State Nature Preserve and offers convenient access to Sandusky-area attractions such as Cedar Point and Put-in-Bay Island. The 240-room lodge offers a variety of custom-designed rooms and suites set on a 235-acre resort area, featuring furniture crafted in nearby Amish Country and decor commissioned by local artisans. Onsite amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tom Fazio, and a variety of land and water sport facilities, including tennis courts and jet ski rentals. Dining options include the Black Bear Saloon bar and grill, and the Mariner’s Dockside Restaurant, located at the resort’s 176-slip marina.
