Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:
Tappan Zee Bridge is officially called the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. It replaced the original Tappan Zee Bridge in 1917 and is a twin cable-stayed bridge which crosses the Hudson River to connect Rockland and Westchester Counties. It is the longest bridge in New York State and can be explored on foot or by bike along a 12-foot wide shared path, which is the longest of its kind in the country. The path features 6 scenic lookout points, various interpretive signs and interesting public art. At night the bridge’s architectural features are lit up and sometimes the entire bridge is illuminated to celebrate special events.
