Review:

A family owned and operated venture, Grandfather Vineyard & Winery is home to five acres of 10-12 grape varieties, the first of which was planted in 2003. Watauga County’s first producing winery opened in 2011 and the bold fruity flavours of the wines are attributed to the 3,300 feet elevation of the vineyard, with some grapes planted at 4,630 feet. The Tasting Room offers dry, sweet, sparkling and dessert style tasting options and a souvenir glass to complement the experience. A weekend visit can include a stop at the Eleven80 Food Truck, which takes residence on site for a delicious meal to enjoy with a glass of wine. Grandfather Vineyard & Winery also encourage participation in their wine club and offer an extensive list of wines to order online.
