NC Day Trips

Things to Do in Boone, North Carolina
Blowing Rock, North Carolina is a quaint village located in the Blue Ride Mountains where the majestic beauty of mother nature meets the adventurous spirit of loving communities.
The town of Kitty Hawk in the Outer Banks region of North Carolina offers a relaxing environment for both tourists and year-round local residents with a variety of things to do.
If you’re looking for variety in your adventures, I think you’ll love North Carolina. You can spend one day in the mountains, the next on the coast, and still have time for charming towns and historic gems.
You can cruise along the Blue Ridge Parkway—trust me, the views are incredible. I also recommend hiking up Grandfather Mountain or chasing waterfalls in Dupont State Forest. You’ll feel like you’re in a postcard.
If you want a beachy escape, you can’t go wrong with Wrightsville Beach. I love exploring the lighthouses on the Outer Banks, and Beaufort is one of those waterfront towns where you’ll want to linger a little longer.
I always suggest starting with the Biltmore Estate in Asheville—it’s as grand as it gets. If you’re into Revolutionary War history, Halifax is a hidden gem. And you can’t miss the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk—it gave me chills standing where flight first happened.
If you’re traveling with kids, I think you’ll love the North Carolina Zoo—it’s one of the best. You can also check out the hands-on exhibits at Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh. And the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad? It’s a hit with kids and grown-ups alike.
If you’re in the mood for something different, try gem mining in Franklin—I had so much fun searching for treasures. You can explore the cool depths of Linville Caverns or take a peaceful ferry ride to Ocracoke Island. Each one offers its own little adventure.
I think North Carolina is one of those places where you’ll never run out of things to do. Between the natural beauty, rich history, and just the right touch of quirkiness, you’re bound to have a day trip worth remembering.
