Providing a window into the past, the Hamilton-van Wagoner Museum is well worth a visit. The museum is housed in an original 18th century Dutch homestead with a traditional gambrel roof. Built mainly of hand-cut sandstone, the house is flanked by a granary, summer house and gardens and epitomizes the way of life enjoyed by well-to-do early settlers. The home was carefully moved to its current location in Surgent Park in 1973 and visitors can tour 6 beautifully restored rooms furnished with historic pieces from different periods. This way you can trace the changes of style which occurred over the course of 200 odd years. Tours are offered on Sundays from March through December.
