Yellowstone Gateway Museum was the first ever designated national park in the entire world, but people have been coming to the area to enjoy its towering mountains, jagged canyons, and lush, stark beauty for centuries before that designation. At the Yellowstone Gateway Museum, visitors can learn about the original inhabitants of Yellowstone—human and otherwise—the famed explorations of Lewis and Clark, and the history of the railroad and the developments it brought to the area. There are several fascinating outdoor exhibits, including a blacksmith’s shop, a traditional one-room schoolhouse, and several train cars.
