Fort Zumwalt Park is a 48-acre park in O'Fallon, Missouri that includes four-acre Lake Whetsel surrounded by lush woodlands, the replica homestead fort of Jacob Zumwalt, a picnic pavilion, a shelter house and a kids' playground. The fishing season at the lake is from February to October. Every Christmas season, Fort Zumwalt Park hosts O'Fallon's Celebration of Lights, a magical display of light decorations. The park is home to the St. Charles Model Railroad Club and the Darius Heald Home, built in 1884, open for tours by appointment and during special events. All that is left from the original Zumwalt's Fort, a War of 1812 settler fort, is a large limestone chimney. An interpretive sign mark the site. A replica of the original fort, built in 2015, is open for tours. The park also includes a one-mile walking/jogging path.
