If you're craving a friendly Midwest getaway filled with parks, local charm, and easygoing fun, I suggest heading to O’Fallon. I’ve always loved how it feels tucked just west of St. Louis—it gives you peaceful vibes but still keeps you close to the city. Whether you're into scenic walks, festivals, or trying new restaurants, I think you’ll enjoy the relaxed pace here as much as I do.
Best Time to Visit
If you ask me, the best time to go is spring through fall—from April to October. That’s when I’ve found the parks come alive, and the community events are in full swing. You’ll get to join outdoor concerts, explore leafy trails, and in October, you really can’t beat the fall colors. I always try to catch them when I can.
How to Get There
- By Car: When I drive in, I usually hop on I-70 or Route 364. O’Fallon’s just 35 minutes west of downtown St. Louis, so it’s a breeze.
- By Air: If you're flying, I’d recommend landing at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). I’ve done it myself, and it’s just about a 30-minute drive from there.
- By Train: Amtrak’s a solid option too—I’ve taken it to Kirkwood or Union Station in St. Louis, and it gets you close enough to make it convenient.
Where to Stay
- Hampton Inn O’Fallon – I’ve stayed here for a short weekend—it’s clean, comfortable, and the free breakfast is always a bonus. Plus, I liked the pool.
- Staybridge Suites O’Fallon Chesterfield – If you want extra space or you’re staying longer, I’d go with this one. I felt right at home thanks to the kitchenettes and cozy vibe.
- Drury Inn & Suites St. Louis O’Fallon – I love how they go above and beyond with evening snacks and drinks. The staff’s friendly, and everything’s spotless whenever I visit.
