Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:

The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens have a treat in store for all nature lovers and botany enthusiasts. The gardens, which cover 7.7 acres, were established in a dune system in 1976. After more than 40 years of protecting and showcasing some very specific endemic plant species, the gardens are home to no fewer than 40 varieties of sugarcane, several sweet potato and taro varieties as well as many plants which were brought to Maui by canoe from other Polynesian islands. Although they may not be considered a traditional botanic garden, these gardens have significant educational value for anyone interested in the history and culture of Maui.
