Located on the Patapsco River, where it flows into Chesapeake Bay, Fort Smallwood Park is a great place to bring the family for a beach day. This little-known gem has been eclipsed by larger resorts in the last few decades but still offers those in the know a great day out. Beach activities include swimming, crabbing, boating and fishing from the Bill Burton Fishing Pier. Land-based attractions include walking trails, horse-shoe pits, volley ball courts and picnic areas. You can also explore the historic picnic pavilion, historic gun battery and the old barracks. Knowledgeable park rangers are on hand to ensure you have a great day out.
