Review:
Housed in the 100-year-old Mountain City Mill on the banks of Carroll Creek in historic downtown Frederick, The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center celebrates the works of regional and national artists in five galleries. Established in 1986, the 40,000square-foot center is a flagship of the arts and features eight spacious studios, where visitors of all ages can enjoy classes and workshops. The center is also home to Etchison Davis Library, one of the largest, free art reference libraries in the state; the Community Art Gallery and the Community Outreach Gallery, where works by local students and community groups are shown; and the magnificent Gardiner Hall. The Gift Gallery at the Delaplaine sells a variety of art-related items, gifts, and souvenirs supporting local artists in the community.
