Cadillac Mountain is an island and mountain range originally established in 1604 by Samuel de Champlain.
In 1931 a paved road to the top was created for easy access. It is the highest peak on the nation’s eastern seaboard as well as the highest elevation in Acadia National Park, offering incredible views of Penobscot and Frenchman bays.
It’s well-known for having the earliest sunrise time in the U.S. during the winter months, and for its excellent climbing opportunities.
Great Head, in the northern territory, is the most developed area for climbers, but Otter Cliffs, Wonder Wall, and Rock Lobster also provide fun climbs for beginners. Map
