Covering a whopping 605 acres along the Atlantic coastline, Popham Beach State Park is a treasured day-use recreational area for Phippsburg residents and visitors. The park borders south side of the mouth of the Kennebeck River, where geological conditions are responsible for a dynamic, changing landscape. You will find a long stretch of beautiful beach ideal for sunbathing, swimming, body-boarding, ocean kayaking and surfing. At low tide you can walk across to Fox Island. There are lifeguards on duty during the summer months and leashed dogs are welcome off season. From time to time the park offers guided tours and fishing, hunting and wildlife watching are other on-site activities.
