Protecting and showcasing one of the world’s longest cave systems, Mammoth Cave National Park is a must-see on your Kentucky itinerary. To date, over 400 miles of caverns have been explored and the cave system gets its name from the enormous size of some of the caverns. There is a comfortable lodge in the park or you could choose to bring a tent or RV to one of five campgrounds. Although the highlight of any visit to the park is undoubtedly a guided cave tour there are many other activities on offer. You can go boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing on the river, hit the biking trails or explore over 80 miles of hiking and equestrian trails.
