The C.W. Parker Carousel Museum is dedicated to the art of carousel-making and houses a collection of vintage carousels. Also known as the Leavenworth Carousel Museum, the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum is named after Charles Wallace Parker who created the first amusement ride in 1898 and features an impressive collection of historically registered handcrafted carousels. The museum also has several vintage items like an Artizan band organ, a C.W. Parker cylinder piano, and a Wurlitzer Band Organ, along with beautifully repaired or reproduced carousel horses.

The Fort Leavenworth Army Installation is a 5,600-acre military post on the Frontier Military Scenic Byway that was built in 1827 and used as a stopover for pioneers moving westwards. Historically known as ‘the Intellectual Center of the Army,’ post is the oldest active United States Army and permanent settlement in Kansas west of Washington. The base also housed the African-American soldiers of the U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment known as the Buffalo Soldiers. Today, the Fort Leavenworth Army Installation is the home of the US Army Combined Arms Center (CAC).

The Carroll Mansion and Museum is a historic 1880s house and the oldest museum in Leavenworth County. The beautifully preserved Victorian house museum is the home to the Leavenworth County Historical Society and stands as an outstanding example of a Victorian-era home, as well as a research center for the history of early Kansas. The house has 16 rooms and features elaborate handcrafted woodwork, exquisite stained-glass windows, Victorian-era antiques, and furnishings from the early 20th century. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday and guided docent-led tours are available.

The Richard Allen Cultural Center is dedicated to researching and preserving the rich history and heritage of African-Americans in the region and their influence on society. Founded in 1992, the museum is based in the former home of U.S. Army Captain and Buffalo Soldier, William Bly, and named after the founder of the first African Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States, Richard Allen. Decorated to reflect a building from the early 1900s, the museum houses an interesting collection of historic photographs dating back to the 1800s.

The Performing Arts Center is a historic theater in downtown Leavenworth that hosts the non-profit community theater group called the River City Community Players. Formerly known as the Hollywood Theater, the building was designed by Robert Boller and built in 1937 in an Art Deco style. Part of the Dubinsky theater chain, the Hollywood Theater was Leavenworth's only movie palace and features hallmarks of a bygone era with ornate and opulent interiors. The River City Community Players produces and presents up to seven productions a year, ranging from musicals and magic shows to drama, dance recitals, and youth plays.
