The Red Rocks State Historic Site in the town of Emporia, Kansas preserves the historic William Allen White House, which is also referred to as Red Rocks. The home belonged to William Allen White from the year 1899 until he passed away in 1944. White was editor of the Emporia Gazette, a Pulitzer Prize winning Progressive journalist, and adviser to presidents. Five presidents were hosted at the house, including President Theodore Roosevelt. In 1976, the historic Tudor-style home was made a National Historic Landmark, and was later declared a state historic site operated by the Kansas Historical Society in 2001.
