Review:

Genoa is a port city in Italy in the Liguria region, once a powerful republic on the coast of the Ligurian Sea. Its historic center is one of the largest in Europe, with narrow cobblestone streets lined with magnificent palaces from the 16th and 17th centuries built in a range of architectural styles.

There are more than 100 palaces in the city, witnesses to the power of Genoa’s ruling class during that period.

The Romanesque Cathedral of San Lorenzo stands out with its striped black-and-white facade and interior full of frescoes. Genoa Porto Antico, or the old port, has been rejuvenated and now has the largest aquarium in Europe, a biosphere with a wonderful botanical garden, and the Bigo Crane, a large old crane that is now an icon of the new port.
