Review:
The Modern Art Gallery in Bologna is called MAMbo for short (Museo d’Arte Moderna do Bologna). Located in the heart of the city, it houses a permanent collection of Italian art from WWII to the present day. As well as a museum, it is also the main office for the Istituzione Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Bologna, which includes many museums, education departments, and an artist residence. Though there have been guest showings of foreign artwork, the primary focus is Italian artists, including a popular exhibit looking at Giorgio Morandi. Overall, MAMbo looks to expand the modern art genre by stimulating scholarly programs and lectures.
