Review:

Ponte Vecchio, which translates as the "Old Bridge" in Italian, was the first and only bridge across the Arno River until 1218.

The bridge as it currently stands was reconstructed in 1345 following a citywide flood and was the only bridge over the Arno that was not destroyed in World War II.

Though its current construction history is unknown, it is believed to have been constructed by the city's Dominican friars. It is located within the pedestrian area near the Piazza della Repubblica near Palazzo Pitti and is home to a number of historic shops, including goldsmiths, butchers, and fishmongers. As one of the city's most romantic spots, the bridge is also a site for concerts, theatrical productions, and boat ride launches.
