Located just a short walk from the port, Panagia Ekatontapyliani is an ancient church and monastery complex which is of great interest to anyone who likes learning about history and architecture.

The original church was built in the 4th century and remains one of the oldest and best-preserved examples of Byzantine monuments in the country. Originally built as a three-aisled basilica, the church has undergone many reformations over the centuries and the structure you see today is a complex blend of Paleochristian, Byzantine and Post-Byzantine architectural elements. Inside the church is a small three-room museum housing a priceless collection of ancient icons and relics.
