Review:
Ipanema, which in the Tupi language translates to “bad water,” is anything but what the name suggests. The affluent neighborhood is internationally popular, and you will find that it is one of the most lavish places in all of Rio de Janeiro. There is a collection of world-class cafes, restaurants, and shops for visitors to peruse among the luxurious residencies found in the area. The area is popular for many events, one of which includes the Banda de Ipanema, which is the local version of Carnival festivities and alone attracts over 50,000 people. The Feira Hippie de Ipanema, also known as the Ipanema Hippie Market, began in the late 1960s and continues to attract people every Sunday; there are over 700 stalls for visitors to explore.
