Situated on over 10,000 acres of marsh, wooded forest, and grasslands, the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge serves as an important place for migratory birds to stop during their travels up and down the coast of the Atlantic Flyway. Located an easy 22 miles from the city of Dover, and 64 miles from Wilmington, Prime Hook is an excellent location for visitors looking to experience nature in several unique ecosystems that are home to hundreds of species of animals.
The refuge is open to the public daily from half an hour before sunrise until half an hour after sunset, with miles of hiking trails and opportunities for kayaking and canoeing. Information about activities, such as bird walks and educational programs, can be found on Prime Hook's website.
