Review:
Surrounding the Durango Public Library, the Durango Botanic Gardens are free to enter and open to the public year round.
Entirely established by eager volunteers, the gardens consist of a series of themed public gardens which started with an original Demonstration Garden, intended to demonstrate sound horticultural practices.
The gardens soon expanded to include the Gabbro Miniature Conifer Garden, the Cindy Smart Miniature Tree Garden, the Arboretum, Rose Garden and Thyme Garden, to name but a few.
If you visit on a Saturday you will usually find volunteers caring for the plants and a docent available to offer private tours.
