Review:

The Church of Saint Maclou is another of Rouen’s beautifully preserved historic buildings. Construction of this church, which is an outstanding example of the Flamboyant Gothic style, commenced in 1437. As you approach the church you will notice the famous 5-porch portal, which is adorned by magnificent Renaissance wooden doors. The interior showcases a mix of architectural styles including a Gothic staircase, a Renaissance organ and Baroque confessionals and a unique suspended crucifix. The church was seriously damaged during WWII bombings and the Lantern Tower has only recently been painstakingly restored to its former grandeur, complete with a belfry which is home to 5 chiming bells.
