The Historic Carson Hot Springs have been around for a long time. In the early days, prior to 1849, the local Washoe people believed in the health benefits of the hot mineral-rich waters which bubbled up from the ground.
Later, in 1880 the springs were commercialized and bathhouses were built to entice travelers to stop for a while and try the waters. Today visitors can enjoy a thoroughly modern hot spring with large 2 outdoor pools and 9 small indoor pools which can be hired for private soaking. The water is entirely natural and no chemicals are added. On-site amenities include a restaurant and brewery as well as change rooms, restrooms and pool-side loungers.
