The Yukon Oklahoma Czech Festival is a Yukon, Oklahoma traditional annual celebration of the town’s rich Czech heritage. Festivities take place on the first weekend in October, starting with a carnival in downtown Yukon. The day-long festival officially starts on Saturday morning. Thousands of locals and visitors line Main Street for one of Oklahoma’s largest parades.
After the parade, festivities moves to the Czech Building at 5th and Cedar street, with polka bands and traditional Czech and Slovak folk dance groups performances throughout the day. Volunteers from Oklahoma Czech Inc. offer a sample of delicious Czech traditional foods such as kolaches (cakes) and sausages. Dozens of arts and crafts booths and festival food vendors line up the streets of Yukon. At 4 p.m. is the coronation of the Oklahoma Czech Royalty, including a Queen, Junior Queen, Prince and Princess. The festival ends with the Royalty Coronation Ball at the Yukon Czech Hall. Everyone is welcome to dance the night away to the music of the live bands.
