Located in Gurnee, Illinois, Six Flags Great America first opened in 1976 as Marriott’s Great America before it was bought by Six Flags in 1984. This theme park is full of attractions, including roller coasters, kiddie rides, restaurants, and shops. Six Flags Great America also hosts various events during the day, like character storytimes and light shows. During the summer, this park has a waterpark filled with various types of pools and slides. Tickets are required to enter and season passes are available. Six Flags Great America is open for most of the year, although the hours are limited during the off-season.
