La Jolla Sea Cave Kayaks is an engaging water tour of southern California’s five distinguished marine ecosystems, sandy beaches, reefs, rocky cliffs, kelp forests, and deep underwater canyons. Packed into two-square miles, visitors will find an abundant and diverse variety of oceanic wildlife both in and out of the water. The waters flourish with sea stars and gentle leopard sharks, and sparkle with the orange schools of garibaldi fish. The sea caves are the highlight of the tour and were carved into the ancient sandstone cliffs by the Pacific Ocean. This unique formation is also home to a variety of aquatic birds like pelicans and cormorants nesting in the cliff faces.
