Established in 1927, the family-owned business is located at the corner of East 12th Street on Broadway just two blocks south of Union Square and is stacked high with piles of books and surrounded by iconic dollar carts. Renowned for having “18 miles of books,” which is the bookstore’s slogan and can be found on all their merchandising., the store has been featured in several films over the years, and several famous people have worked in the store including Patti Smith and Tom Verlaine.
