The walk to the southernmost tip of the Isle of Skye is classified long, with medium difficulty. Point of Sleat is almost 9 km long and should take around two hours. It is best done on a clear day when the small isles of Rum, Canna and Eigg are visible in the west. At low tide the stretches of white beach sand are visible. The path through the heather moors rises and drops repeatedly and is used to and from the end point. The unmanned lighthouse on the peninsula was flown in to be installed. The walk is 45 miles from Portree and 4.3 miles from Armadale along a single track.
