Review & FAQ:
The Vauban Dam, or the Great Lock as it is often called, can be found just a short distance away from Strasbourg’s Covered Bridges. The dam protects the entire southern end of the town, which can be flooded if the dam is released. It was built in 1690 based on the plans of military engineer Vauban. Visitors love visiting the stunning site as it has a panoramic terrace from which you can admire the town’s network of canals and its layout of beautiful architectural structures. One of the city’s most visited tourist sites, you should definitely stop by on your next visit.
