Nestled in the heart of central Iowa, Ames is an artsy, progressive city that offers plenty of opportunities for recreation and entertainment year-round. The city is best known for being home to the Iowa State University, which boasts some of the area's best things to see, including the Brunnier Art Museum and the beautiful Reiman Gardens. Outside of the university, popular attractions include the Octagon Center for the Arts and the handful of local breweries. There are also more than three dozen parks scattered throughout the city, and visitors are welcome to walk, cycle, and jog along their 50 miles of paved multi-use trails.
