The Lace Museum is a unique museum in Sunnyvale that is dedicated to the art and history of lacemaking, showcasing more than 10,000 pieces of historic and contemporary lacework spanning back as far as the 18th century. The museum was originally founded in 1976 as an effort to preserve historic methods of lacemaking and was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1981. Today, the American Alliance of Museums-accredited facility is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays during the afternoon hours, with additional extended evening hours on the third Friday of each month. New major exhibitions are showcased every four months, with a wide variety of lacemaking courses and workshops available to the public throughout the year for artisans of all ages and skill levels.
