Preserving a vast tract of the Diablo Range, Henry W. Coe State Park spans over 87,000 acres which makes it the second largest state park in California. The park was established in 1959, and though it is officially named Henry W. Coe State Park, many of the locals there refer to it as the Orestimba Wilderness. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the time they spend exploring the park and its flora and fauna. Some of the animals that call the park home are coyotes, mountain lions, western rattlesnakes, red-tailed hawks, coast horned lizards, and gray foxes. Additional facilities and sights within the park include a visitor center with exhibits on old ranch life, several historic ranch buildings, a bookstore, a campground, a horse camp, walking trails, and restroom facilities.
