Originally settled by the Dutch more than 400 years ago, the small settlement has grown by leaps and bounds to become the capital city of New York State.
History buffs and architecture enthusiasts are in for a treat as they admire some of America’s oldest and grandest buildings, which stand shoulder to shoulder with modern monuments like the Egg (performing arts center) and the Empire State Plaza. No visit would be complete without touring the elaborate New York State Capitol Building (1867 -1899) to see the famous Million Dollar Staircase, Senate Room, and War Room.
