I discovered Bernalillo, NM on a 20-minute day trip from Albuquerque. I was looking for the Coronado Historic Site to learn about local history. I ended up exploring this unique high-desert town and want to tell you about it. If you get a chance to visit in the fall, you'll be able to attend great harvest festivals.

The closest airport to Bernalillo is Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ). So you'll have to rent a car there and drive 20 minutes north to reach the town. If you are day tripping from Santa Fe, the drive takes about an hour.

If you want a full service resort, check into Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa. It's located on on Santa Ana Pueblo. You can play golf, enjoy spa services, and go horseback riding.

Alternativaly, stay at Holiday Inn Express Bernalillo is located right off I-25.
