Review:

The trail leading to Hanging Lake is one of Colorado’s most well-trodden, and for good reason. The lake shines with a beautiful, unusual turquoise color, which it gained and has maintained thanks to travertine depositions and the action of several unique geological processes.

An uphill trail, which is one mile long but nonetheless challenging because of the rocky terrain, leads up to the lake, which seems to “hang” among the Glenwood Canyon cliffs that encircle it. Swimming is not permitted in the lake, but several viewing platforms allow visitors to enjoy the one-of-a-kind green hues displayed by the lake and the verdant scenery around it.
