Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:

The Liberty Theatre and Cultural Center is the beating artistic pulse of Columbus. Their primary reason for existence is to celebrate and encourage African American arts and culture through a mix of entertainment and creativity. Built in 1924, the historic theatre has been at the forefront of Georgian African American creativity for almost 100 years and was the first black theatre in the city. Regrettably, it was shut down in 1974 and stood derelict for a decade before being added to the register of historic places. It was renovated and re-opened in 1996. Your visit to Columbus would be incomplete without attending a show at this grand old theatre.
