In 2004, the former leadership of Lockheed dreamed up an aviation-based institution alongside local community leaders. In the years that followed, The Aviation History and Technology Center was founded on 15.5 acres of United States Air Force land in Cobb County. Home to incredible artifacts and aircraft, and with the certification of the National Museum of Naval Aviation as well as the National Museum of the United States Armed Forces, the Aviation History and Technology Center is now one of the must-visit destinations of Marietta. Visitors to the museum can see a number of aircraft with their permanent exhibit featuring several models from Lockheed, Grumman, Douglas, and so much more.
