The Horton House, also known as the Horton-duBignon House, the brewery ruins, and the duBignon Cemetery, comprise an historic site on Riverview Drive on Jekyll Island in Georgia. Built in 1743 by Major William Horton as part of a rapid expansion plan to colonize Georgia, Horton House was Georgia’s first brewery and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the state.
Today, all that is left of the house and the brewery are ruins and an old cemetery, however, they exhibit interesting construction and still garner attention from historians and culture buffs. The historic site is open to the public, with a paved path that runs near the cemetery and offers spectacular views of the Marshes of Glynn. The Horton House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
