Looking for a vibrant blend of city energy and Southern charm? You’ve got to head to Alpharetta! Just north of Atlanta, Alpharetta hits that perfect sweet spot between upscale and down-home. Whether I’m catching live music under the stars or browsing boutiques at Avalon, this town never disappoints. It’s got a little of everything—concerts, craft beer, nature trails, and a food scene that always surprises me. It’s one of those places where I show up for a weekend and leave planning my next visit.

Alpharetta, GA Highlights:

  • For Music Lovers: Don’t miss a show at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre – I’ve seen everything from rock legends to symphonies here. It’s outdoors, intimate, and surrounded by trees—you’ll want to dance under the stars.
  • For Shoppers: Avalon is a must-visit – Imagine open-air shopping meets fine dining with a splash of Southern style. Even if you’re just window-shopping, the vibe is fun and festive year-round.
  • For Couples: Hit the Alpharetta Brewery Trail – I love hopping between breweries like Jekyll Brewing and Currahee. Great beer, chill patios, and friendly locals make for a perfect low-key date day.
  • For Families: Spend a day at Wills Park – There’s something for everyone—equestrian shows, playgrounds, tennis courts, and summer splash pads. It’s a local favorite for good reason.
  • For Outdoor Enthusiasts: Walk or bike the Big Creek Greenway – A peaceful, shady escape that winds through nature—it’s my go-to spot to clear my head or log a morning run.

Best Time to Visit Alpharetta, GA

Spring and fall are absolutely gorgeous—April through June and September through November bring perfect temps and lots of festivals. If you visit in summer, bring sunscreen and check out the evening concerts to beat the heat. Trust me—there’s nothing like a Southern night filled with music and a cold drink in hand.

How to Get to Alpharetta, GA

  • By Car: Alpharetta is a quick hop up GA-400, about 30 minutes north of Atlanta. I always recommend driving—it makes getting around super easy.
  • By Air: Fly into Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). From there, it’s about a 45–60 minute drive, depending on traffic.
  • By Public Transit: MARTA doesn’t go all the way into Alpharetta, so rideshares or rentals are your best bet once you're near.
