The Naples Botanical Gardens is a unique and beautiful vision of the flora and fauna found between the 26th latitudes. They have created a fantastic array of the naturally biodiverse and stunning plants and cultures that develop in the region and brought them together in a stunning display. The W.O.N.D.E.R. garden program takes place in the Smith Children’s Garden every Saturday and Sunday and is included in the price of admission. These interactive and engaging educational courses work through monthly themes that explore the gardens from the grass up. Fun for all the family, everybody is sure to leave having learned something new.
The gardens also offer an adult learning menu and cover various disciplines, all looking to help visitors connect with the natural world around us. Whether that be through art, gardening and horticulture, health and wellness, or nature spotting and appreciation, the courses all serve up something fascinating to be digested. When creating the space, it was a unanimous decision by all involved to ensure that best practice was used in terms of sustainability and environmental responsibility. It should come as no surprise that the gardens seek to preserve and promote the conservation of the plant life and flora of the local region and the team is working with federal, state, and local organizations to help conservation efforts both in the garden itself and in the surrounding habitats.
A word of caution to those with particularly tasty blood: The gardens and the surrounding flora are in a region with an unusually large population of mosquitoes. Visitors are advised to wear long sleeves and trousers to avoid becoming an unwitting meal for the insects; bug repellant is sold in the adjoining gift shop but you are also free to bring your own.
