Formerly known as the Tampa Bay Hotel, the Henry B. Plant Museum was once a luxurious 500+ room resort hotel opened by railroad magnate Henry B. Plant in 1891 and today serves as a museum dedicated to showcasing the elite lifestyle of the luxurious hotel’s patrons during the Gilded Age.

Located in the south wing of Plant Hall at the University of Tampa, the building was designed by architect J.A. Wood in the Moorish Revival style and was also used as a base of operations during the Spanish-American War.

Guests can visit and explore the old hotel and its magnificent grounds, which feature a golf course, a racetrack, a casino, a bowling alley, and an indoor heating swimming pool, and learn all about the history of the beautiful building, which has been designated a National Historic Landmark.
