Review:
The Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway is a lovely scenic byway traversing several Florida state routes that extend throughout the picturesque river lagoon terrain of the same name, which is home to more than 4,000 species of native flora and fauna, more than any other estuary habitat in North America. The byway meanders through gorgeous stretches of three national wildlife refuges and a national seashore, along with several state and local parks and sanctuaries. Visitors can view landmarks such as the Kennedy Space Center Complex, located on the grounds of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, or explore attractions such as the McLarty Treasure Museum, which preserves the site of a Spanish salvors' encampment. Opportunities to pull off for recreation abound, including chances for swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, surfing, and boating.
